Change happens through movement and movement heals

Welcome to Sundridge Pilates

Finally, Pilates on your doorstep! If you’ve been thinking about starting or restarting your Pilates practice, now is a great time to ease into it. The sun is slowly peaking through and the shorter days are behind us.

Led by a highly-trained and passionate Pilates Instructor, Lola, with deep knowledge and passion for the method, you’ll be guided through a series of classical and contemporary Pilates exercises aimed at increasing body awareness, balance, flexibility, coordination, strength and mental clarity. A consistent and dedicated practice will change how you feel (and look) in your body and mind.

You may have heard of Reformer Pilates, which has boomed in popularity in the past year, but Mat Pilates is the OG version! What’s really great about Mat Pilates in particular is its accessibility: you don’t need fancy equipment and any age, body type and gender can participate…if you can move, you can do Pilates!

We’ll also sometimes work with props such as Pilates balls and bands during class. Sundridge Pilates is initially kicking off with two sessions a week (Sunday Reset and Tuesday Dynamic), but may expand to more days in the week depending on community feedback (feel to email hello@sundridgepilates.com with suggestions).

Look forward to seeing you on the Mat!

Types of Classes

Sunday Reset

On Sundays we reset, think of it as your weekly “MOT”. This is a great time to check in with your body through strengthening, lengthening and stretching movements and expect to iron out any knots and niggles from the previous week. Sunday Reset classes are breath-led with a focus on alignment and balance, strengthening each side of your body so that you leave the session feeling a little taller and ready to take on the week ahead. Expect some classic Pilates exercises with delicious stretches to finish!

Tuesday Dynamic

A Tuesday Dynamic flow allows you to work up a bit more of a sweat! As with any true Pilates practice, you’ll be encouraged to use your breathe, activate your powerhouse (pelvic floor through to abdominals) and find stability and alignment in the hips and shoulders. This is more fast-paced class open to all levels, so there’ll be lots of modifications and progressions to really hone your practice.

Please remember to bring your own mat and maybe a small towel.

All classes have a 12-hour cancellation policy: a cancellation less tan 12 hours before class will be marked as a late cancel.

Wednesday Classical

This class is all about keeping true to the original 34 exercise techniques designed by Joseph Pilates in his Contrology programme. Some exercises are advanced, but to ensure you get as much as you can from this session, modifications and progressions will be provided depending on where you are in your Pilates journey. The aim of Wednesday sessions is to, over time, hone and deepen your Pilates practice. The goal is it to eventually be able to perform the full repertoire in accordance with the principles of Pilates: Breathing, Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision and Flow. Expect hands-on correction, to be challenged and, if you remain consistent, to be transformed!
